Geese
Goslings are not very commonly rehabilitated because geese are great parents. Some issues could be:

If you find eggs too close to a waterway or on a highway median, do not immediately try to rescue them. Rehabilitators generally do not move nests unless the situation is particularly risky. If you find eggs on a flat rooftop, contact a rehabilitator. If you see that parents have been killed or injured in any way, call a rehabber or shelter. If you are comfortable with it and able to do so, you may have to pick them up and bring them to a shelter. If you see that high winds are pushing goslings around, you can help guide them, without forcing them to go anywhere, to wherever they are attempting to go. For example, if goslings are struggling to get up a high curb, placing a jacket or towel on the ground over the curb will allow them to scamper up more easily.
Some people will take them, thinking they're orphaned, but the best thing to do is leave them alone. |
