Temperature Extremes
Wildlife is particularly at risk in the winter and summer months. If you ever see an animal you suspect to have heat exhaustion, hypothermia, or any other temperature-related issue, the best thing to do is to bring them inside to warm or cool them off. If they are a baby or non-rabies vector animal, like squirrels, rabbits, or possums, pick them up with a towel or blanket, and bring them inside. Then, call a wildlife shelter or emergency veterinary clinic for help.
During the summer, feel free to fill a bird bath with cool water each day; however, you should never provide food or water for other wildlife.
